In March 2021, I was fortunate enough to be hired on at the Texas Fashion Collection housed at the University of North Texas as one of their photographers to push digitization efforts. The Texas Fashion Collection is the fifth largest archival fashion collection in the nation with over 20,000 pieces from five continents. Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, galleries and museums around the world were forced to make their works accessible online, which is where I jumped in. Working at the Texas Fashion Collection has opened a door to archival/digitization photography that, quite frankly, I never considered. I’ve always loved fashion (I originally wanted to shoot fashion and editorial photography when I started out), so being around the collection and having the opportunity to photograph these gorgeous, historical garments through my eyes has been an immense pleasure.
